NanoSight was formed to exploit a patented low-cost laser illumination technique for detecting particles in the deeply sub-500nm range by optical methods alone. The business spun out of Porton Down, based upon years of work in Photon Correlation Spectroscopy and Surface Plasmon Resonance.
