Guide to Microscopes and Microanalysis

Raman Microscopes, Microprobes, and Microspectroscopy

Raman spectrometers coupled with conventional microscopes provide non-destructive chemical analysis at macro- and microscopic levels. Specimens are illuminated with a laser and the light scattered by the material is analyzed by a the raman spectrometer. Confocal raman microscopes can collect spectrum from extremely small sample volumes and combined with microscope automation, the raman confocal microscope can produce raman spectral maps.
